Izmo will run the 6th edition of the International Summer School in Turin (Italy) from 20th to 29th of July 2016. This year, the focus will be on the public space, and students will design and build a mobile green space for sitting, working, studying and playing (parklet) in order to furnish the indoor square of the converted INCET factory.
The course aims at attracting students – both under and post graduates -, professionals and, in general, anyone who is interested in the subject of urban and landscape design.
The lectures will be held by experts and professors of Landscape, Urban and Furniture design, in order to develop a broad and multidisciplinary perspective on the subject. In addition, students will have the opportunity to experience methodologies and techniques that will enable them to work creatively with waste materials and to learn participatory design practices.
The training will be further enhanced by a meeting with esterni and OrtiAlti: as special-guests they will show their projects and explain their approach to the topic. The Summer School is taught in English.
At the end of the lessons, students will redefine, through a participatory design event, the ideas gather from citizen which brought their needs in a previous public meeting (Open Square project), and will work on the design and making of a “green installation” using sustainable materials.
Each student will be equipped with all necessary materials and work tools and will be mentored by Izmo staff in every phase of the project.
The course will take a total of 75 hours of educational effort which equals 3 credits (ECTS).
In addition, we will provide constant help in logistics, housing, mobility, and tourism.
